Bird Migraion in Iran

The main purpose of this report is to document the time of bird migration in Iran in the late 1960s and 1970s with the aim of providing basic information for current and future studies on the effects of climate change on bird migration in Iran. Before the 1960s, ornithological studies in Iran were irregular and uncoordinated. This report tries to summarize all bird sightings in Iran known to the author between 1967 and 1978. The total of 88,720 records includes approximately 55,000 records taken from the author's own detailed field notes, approximately 25,000 records collected from other observers, and more. 8000 records from the Letian/Lashgark dam area near Tehran.
